"That's right," his companion chimed in smugly. "We’re beings who can crush you like an insect. If you know what’s good for you, get lost—now!!"
Arthur's gaze darkened as he looked at the two demons. His expression was completely indifferent.
"You?" Arthur's voice was flat and devoid of emotion. "Have you said enough?"
The demons froze. In the past, just revealing their demonic identity would cause humans to flee in terror or fall to their knees, begging for mercy. But the man in front of them showed no fear. None at all.
Instead, he looked at them like a lion eyeing prey.
To a lion, there was no difference between a rabbit and an ant—they were both easily killed.
“Could it be… are you a Demon Slayer?” one of them muttered, a flicker of panic showing in his eyes. (Humans with special powers)
“Arthur, I want to play.”
The little girl tugged at his sleeve unhappily, her big eyes filled with irritation. Arthur nodded. It was strange—why were these guys so determined to take little Gilgamesh away?
In the next second, Arthur sprang forward.
Before the demons could react, his body turned into a streak of light. In their eyes, the only thing visible was a rapidly enlarging fist—
Boom!
The impact rang out like thunder. One of the demons was launched through the air as if struck by a speeding car.
“Ah!” The remaining demon flinched in shock.
“So, you are a Demon Slayer?” he stammered.
"What, scared already? Looks like you're even more worthless than I thought," Arthur sneered.
The demon’s face twisted. Fear crept in as realization dawned—what if this man was a Demon Slayer whose sole purpose was to exterminate demons?
Terror surged through him, and his magic flared wildly.
Bzzzz…
The demon registration certificate in his hand buzzed to life.
> "Abnormal situation detected! Please evacuate the surrounding civilians immediately! Repeat! Abnormal situation detected! Please evacuate the surrounding civilians immediately!"
The blaring alarm echoed through the street.
“If I can’t get that girl, the boss will kill me!” the demon snarled, summoning a Familiar without hesitation.
"Die!!"
A ferocious panther-like Familiar materialized above his head and roared, shattering nearby streetlights with the force of its presence.
Arthur remained calm, not even setting the little girl down.
The Familiar lunged, its magical energy peaking.
Arthur responded instantly. He channeled magic into his hand and punched upward—straight at the beast.
Boom!!!
A deafening explosion echoed as Arthur’s punch collided with the Familiar mid-air. In an instant, the creature disintegrated—blown to pieces like a bomb detonating in the sky. The resulting shockwave swept across the street.
"Impossible!!" the demon gasped, his eyes wide in disbelief. He couldn’t comprehend how his most powerful Familiar was so easily destroyed.
He was no mere foot soldier—on Itogami Island, he was well-known. Strong. Respected. Comparable to a high-ranking vampire general.
And yet… with just one punch… his trump card was obliterated?
Arthur didn’t hesitate. He walked forward and threw another punch—
Boom!!
The vampire's head exploded. Given his level of bloodline purity, survival was impossible.
Arthur dispersed the remaining magical energy and turned to leave with the little girl still in his arms. (Little Gilgamesh had killed no fewer people than Arthur—she wouldn’t be frightened.)
But just then, a girl—about fifteen years old—stepped into view. She had long black hair, big eyes, and wore a formal dress. Her gaze locked onto Arthur, as though ready to strike him down any second.
Arthur recognized her immediately.
Natsuki Minamiya, top Demon Slayer of Itogami Island.
She stood calmly, holding a small parasol in one hand and a folding fan in the other—an unusual combination.
In a flash, Natsuki vanished—and reappeared behind Arthur!
Chains shot out toward him, but before they could touch, a sudden gust of wind surged around him, blocking her attack entirely.
Magic? Natsuki narrowed her eyes. The wind—clearly imbued with magical properties—didn’t come from nowhere. She lowered her head thoughtfully.
Despite her serious posture, the contrast with her petite, doll-like face made her look more like an adorable child than a feared Demon Slayer.
"...Attacking me out of nowhere. Are you trying to avenge those two demons?" Arthur asked with a smile.
He didn’t seem worried at all. If he wanted to, he could obliterate the entire island in seconds.
"No," Natsuki replied flatly. "The authorities have been after those two for a long time. People kept reporting their crimes, but they never used magic—only relied on their physical strength—so we had no grounds to act. They kept slipping through the cracks."
"So, I did a good deed?"
“To some extent,” she nodded thoughtfully.
“Then why attack me?”
"A powerful Demon Slayer of unknown origin… do you expect me to just let that slide?" Natsuki gave him a sharp look. She waved her fan lightly. "You’re not from Itogami Island, are you?"
"That’s right. We just arrived—and stumbled into this mess."
Seeing no hostility from her, Arthur deactivated the Wind King’s Barrier.
"No wonder I didn’t recognize your aura," Natsuki said. "In that case, come with me to register."
She didn’t press further or attempt to capture him. After all, the brief clash had made it clear: Arthur’s strength was equal to, if not beyond, her own.
He had no ill will. If he had, he wouldn’t be standing here talking calmly with a Demon Slayer.
Besides… less paperwork for her.
Arthur followed behind her, glancing at the small figure leading the way.
Behind him, the little girl pouted.
They’d promised to play all day!
“Hmph! I’m ignoring you!!” she grumbled, burying her face in his chest.
"Alright, maybe next time," Arthur said gently, patting her back.
He looked forward again, a curious smile tugging at his lips.
Natsuki Minamiya?
Interesting.
