So, the cover art! I've recently finished the volume 2 cover (Swedish edition, but likely would be used for other editions too)

Here's the first volume for comparison. Thought processes that went into it:

Sidenote: originally Chie was looking to the left but I got a note from the publisher that the book sells better if the character looks back at the viewer. Small enough compromise...

Since I've got this template down I can just change the character, palette and background for each volume. Chie's color is a warm yellow so Jon's is pretty much the opposite blue/teal shade.

Here's the first version that I almost finished before going fuck it, start over! It just didn't spark joy for me. I feel like a static and dignified pose works better with Chief/Elias/Alex so I'm gonna save it for one of them? The angle was also a giant pain and I couldn't draw it as well as I'd hoped.

Final cover art (still could use a little polish). Jon doesn't have this cheeky energy in the comic very often but I think it's the right kind of charisma to have on a book cover. It has to grab your attention!
