Update #50 - Mid-season Report!

Hey everyone! I wanted to do a bit of a progress report and update on a few things going forward since I still need a day or two to finish the next release, since there might be a bit of ambiguity as to what Moemon might be up to release. The main question is, are we still doing Gen 4?

Well, yes and no.

As mentioned before, the Moemon team have had to redo a ton of sprites since they split from the old leadership/project, who they themselves were using some Japanese sprites from the ORIGINAL team. Because of that, we've lost some sprites, and new ones are still being made, but as a result, Gen 4 lost about 1/3rd of their sprites.

So, attempting to continue Gen 4 is difficult since the sprites are either outdated and going to be replaced, or the sprite just doesn't exist to begin with.

For starters, I wanted to do the Gen 4 Gym Leaders, but the very first Gym Leader, Roark (who I have a Genderbent version of, called "Gemma"), uses Cranidos as their main.

If I were to make Gemma, I'd want to pair her with Cranidos/Rampardos, their iconic battle partner. But, what does the current Cranidos/Rampardos Moemon sprite look like?

It looks like this:

Right.

So as you can see, this halts us from doing the Gym Leaders in order. I then ask myself, should I do them out of order and just come back to Roark when Cranidos is available?

Well, I could, since no other Gym Leader has this issue - but I've decided to give it a little more time to get a Cranidos/Rampardos sprite set, because we still have something we can do in the meantime.

Several Gen 4 are actually evolutions of previous Gen Moemon, particularly from Gen 1. Since some of the Gen 1 Moemon are either heavily outdated or have received new sprites in general, I'll be releasing them all as a family unit. Some of them that have "Baby" versions, such as Jynx, Electabuzz, and Magmar, are due for an overhaul, so they'll be left out and, if and when they're finished, I MIGHT release them as a set.

There's also a few other Gen 1/2+4 combos I may do.

Did you know Sneasel is like the only Gen 2 Moemon I NEVER released? The only other ones not released being the "Baby" Moemon and Wooper/Quagsire (which.. I'll do eventually). While I may still not do this one yet (because Sneasel is technically due for a replacement), I might end up doing her while also using the old Weavile, since, idk, I kind of like them:

While not technically an evolution (it should have been), Heracross and Pinsir both received new sprites and deserve a remake. While Scyther and Scizor don't have new sprites, they might be due for a remake anyways.

For now, that's a brief look at what's coming up. Not necessarily in that order, and the next couple of releases for this month are not listed. Still, this should give you all a good idea of what to look forward to.

That's about all for now. Below are simply some heads-up notices that you can safely ignore if you've been actively following the releases.
