We're kicking off our Year of the Snake series properly with a vastly improved Ekans & Arbok! Well, most of the improvement comes with Arbok, as she now has a design much more closely resembling her sprite. The main feature is her veil, which now has Arbok's iconic hood pattern -- or one of it's variations at least. Did you know Arbok can have up to 20 different patterns?
Anyways, there's not much else to say about these two, but one little fun fact is that this is the very first time - out of literally over a thousand cards - that the set was done in reverse. Usually, we start with the basic form, then work on it's evolution, and second evolution, etc. This time, we started with Arbok, finished her, then designed Ekans. It was unusual, but in the end it doesn't make a difference.
It just felt weird. Never doing that again.
