Thunder Stones?!

The Rock/Electric Alolan versions of Geodude, Graveler & Golem are here!

Unfortunately, there are no Moemon sprites for these yet, so once more I simply used the original artwork for inspiration. Ironically, the challenging part comes when you consider some of the designs of Pokemon tend to lean towards a masculine or feminine appearance, with very few "neutral" Pokemon. This has always been the case going all the way back to Gen 1 - the Machop/Machoke/Machamp family were clearly male, with some, such as Mr. Mime or "Nidoran♂" (it's ACTUAL name), outright told you so.

However, when Gen 2 came, and with it the genders, Pokemon that had uniquely masculine designs were found to have both male and female genders. Ironically, this was not always consistent - Mr. Mime is both capable of being Male and Female, while some, like Hitmonchan + Hitmonlee are exclusively male.

Most people are actually unaware of that latter fact, as in Gen 1 you are literally "given" a Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan, and genders did not exist. In Gen 2, the only way to obtain these two were by evolving a Tyrogue, which was out of the way in a confusing maze, so not many grabbed one. More on those four (Tyrogue/Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee/Hitmontop in the coming weeks).

Regardless, enough ranting. 

As you can see above with Geodude and Graveler, they have pointing black "hair like" things coming out of them. It's actually minerals, of course. With Geodude, she has black "ahoges" sticking out of her head, to mimic that. While Graveler, I opted to focus more on the "gold" like gems sticking out. It's actually Dravite, a real-world mineral. Here is what polished Dravite looks like:

In the lore, these Alolan Graveler consume Dravite en masse, which gives them more Electrical power!

And finally, for Golem!

There's a ton of shit going on here. 

How does one turn THAT into a qt3.14 waifu? It's not easy, if you want to keep the resemblance of them. I'd be impressed if you showed someone the Alolan Golem I made and they could successfully identify/recognize it without you saying anything. It's really unlikely, because it's just simply too much variation. Golem's a mustached ball with hands. Hard to compare that to.. anything, honestly.

Still.. there's a few resembling features! I added a black breastplate, and black facial markings to give that impression. Golem's unique.. thing on his back has been translated into a giant warhammer, which has Dravite gems socketed in.

All in all, I hope you enjoy them for what they are.

No Shiny versions for these. I would love to do them, but there's only so much time in the day! Nothing is ever finished, though, and one day I may upload them (and others), but there are still some priorities to be met first.
