Update #27 - Final Weeks of Gen 2!

Hello, everyone!

We're not quite half way through this month, but the end is in sight, at least as far as Gen 2 is concerned. That said, I wanted to present a bit of a road map for the rest of this month so you have an idea of what to expect.

First of all, because of the unfortunate delays last month and playing catch up since, I don't feel confident in getting all Gen 2 Moemon out by this month. This has led to a couple of other decisions being made when planning for Gen 3, and I wanted to share them all with you here.

Here's what to expect this month:

• The rest of the Elite Four including the true "Champion" of Gen 2 at the very end of this month.
• Mega evolutions to be paired with them.
• One final Legendary from Gen 2.
• Several small releases to fill in the gaps.

However, because we are short on time, I've decided to postpone a few Gen 2 Moemon for the future, for differing reasons. Here's what NOT to expect this month, and the reason why:

• Wobbuffet. I wanted to release her with a reworked Team Rocket, however, that's also been postponed as the plan was that hopefully Evaan could release his new version of Jessie, which was teased several months back featuring new hair created by another user, but he has not released it yet, nor the mod! Therefore Wobbuffet will come later, along with Wynaut.
• Aipom. Initially this was to come out alongside Smeargle, as they are in the same route (I think?), but I held off as I want to release her with Ambipom, her evolution. However, both of these sprites are going through reworks, and since I mainly draw inspiration from the sprites, I'm holding off on it for awhile - but it won't be out this month.
• Yanma. Similar to the above, Yanmega is going through reworks and I want them both out at the same time.
• Wooper/Quagmire. Listen, this one is for one simple reason and no other - I fucking hate Wooper's sprite. Look.

I don't know what's going on there, but I don't like it. I'm delaying her until either it changes or I force myself to stare at it long enough to generate some type of inspiration.

• Qwilfish, Mantine, Corsola*(maybe). Mostly cutting due to time, will come in Gen 3!
• Remoraid/Octillery. While I actually do like these two, Octillery's sprite is merely a girl in a two-piece bikini. While it looks fine, I have to come up with something "more" for her, so chop it up to a lack of time, for now.

Rest assured, they're all coming eventually.

However...

We need to talk about the Baby Pokemon.

For the time being, they are going to be cut, indefinitely. That doesn't necessarily mean never, but it's unlikely for the near future. Mainly because the sprites are uncomfortably young looking. While there are some that are qualified as "Baby Pokemon", their sprites are appropriate looking and are aged up in KK anyways. Perfect example is Togepi, though she fits the category, she is aged up in both sprite and game, at least appearance wise.

But, come on, it's hard to work with these:

I may work with them in the future, certainly, but the time will have to be right, maybe with Gen 4 and Magmortar gets due up, I'll include Magby, maybe!

That said, there's always the chance the sprites will get changed.

I've also made this decision out of respect for many over at the Moemon discord. Some have expressed concern with the work here, that some sprites are too "childish" to appear in this type of a game, and that's understandable. For legal reasons, I only release these models for the intent of studio-modelling purposes! For fun! Yeah, we'll go with that.

Anyways, there are a couple of exceptions to this, one being Togepi, the others being Tyrogue, who is indeed coming later this month, and Wynaut, in Gen 3.

What's Next?

Elite Four Willamina is admittingly here a bit early, as our next Elite Four member isn't until next week. However, there are a number of small releases planned this week. In no particularly order...

Marill and Azumarill! I can't wait for these beautiful babes!

Snubbull and Granbull!

Blissey! And an updated Chansey? Maybe!

And a couple of others, which I don't have the sprites for at the moment.
Oh, and the Legendary.
