first up, my apologies for being off grid with updates for so long, but you have my word that this will change from now on!
Because as of last week, I do finally have certainty on what has been up in the air behind the scenes for quite some time now. And not without some regret I have to say, that what has been brewing did not materialize in the end.
To explain: I had been in talks with a developer Studio who were interested in developing "Gunman Contracts" with me as a full and well funded project, with aim to release on multiple platforms simultaneously such as Steam, PSVR2 and even Quest2.
So it was a very interesting outlook of working with a talented team on a very big scale, which (on the flipside) would have seen me taking more of a creative-directors/advisors position, throwing out all my work done so far and also pushing out any early-access plans in exchange for a full release date around 2 years in the future, which would have been the estimated development timeframe.
But this last week our negotiations have simply hit a deadend, since we came to realize that we were just a bit too far apart on certain aspects, both on contract related issues, as much as creative concerns, to meet at a place where we would both feel comfortable enough to embark on such a huge undertaking together. And while it is a bit disappointing that things did not go the way I would have wished for, I also cannot say that I am really sad. In fact, having been somewhat shaky on leaving my original approach of creating this game for a few weeks now, quite the part of me is actually relieved to reenter this route I started on. Chances are, its for the best! And parting as friends, the studio in question might still be playing a part in the further gunman development after all, but if so, on a way smaller scale, with eye on assistance to code and finalize the version you have seen so far. We will see.
So yeah, that means that (re)starting now, I am finally fully back on the planned Steam-Early-Access-Build I have been working on for the last year! And I am really really looking forward to getting back in!
And while those last 2 months may not have lead to the desired conclusion, I did enjoy the ride ... I did get to meet a lot of very nice, interesting, talented people and made some awesome new contacts. Plus, while being off unity development, I had a lot of time to work on story, lore and mission details for gunman contracts stand alone, all of which will now help me a ton in going forward!
Okay, so thats a wrap for story behind my long update-absence. Thanks so much for your patience and the continuing support throughout this time and going forward! Updates will now be starting to roll again ... starting with a new gameplay video that will go live tonight.
