Update 10.9.2
Added 2023-05-05 05:00:42 +0000 UTCThroughout the past month, my main focus has been on enhancing the AI for racing in BeamNG. Although there have not been any major breakthroughs, I am fully committed to this goal and will continue working tirelessly towards improving the AI. While we await further developments, I have decided to release a new Indoor Derby Arena and a few bug fixes.
In the attached image, you can see the racing line points that are being used for testing. Each point represents a specific speed and target for the AI vehicles to follow, as well as a target point for the AI. After each lap, I analyze the fastest vehicle's racing line, including the player's racing line and speed in certain areas. While BeamNG already tracks this data for the scriptAI, the AI does not currently adjust this line over time. My plan is to use this information to help the AI learn and adjust the fastest path around the track over time.
One issue I'm currently facing is that the AI vehicles are designed to slow down based on curvature between three points, which is a good method for normal driving, but not for racing AI.
Certainly! Developing racing AI can be challenging, and there are several factors to consider when designing it. The racing line is just one aspect, as there are many other elements that need to be taken into account, such as the physics of the vehicles, the behavior of the other AI vehicles on the track, and more. It requires a lot of testing and iteration to create an AI system that can compete effectively with human players.
About Update 10.9.2 New Arena, Bug Fixes, and More
1) As part of this update, we are excited to introduce a brand new Indoor Derby Arena, designed in collaboration with JBL. The arena boasts a large derby area with a smooth gravel base.
Here are some of the other changes on the current update.
2) Fixed Barstow configs missing the steering wheel and leaf springs.
3) Fixed roofsign and door numbers still showing on some of the RDP cars when turned off.
4) Added the RDP TBird roofsign and door numbers.
5) Added the RDP Lincoln roofsign and door numbers.
How to install the current update
BeamNG.drive is required to play this mod.
The download is over 2Gb of data.
1) Download the file attached to this post and then run the installer.
2) Choose Allow or Keep for any popup messages for windows defender or your virus scanner.
3) Double check that the installation folder is in the BeamNG.drive mods folder.
DO NOT INSTALL IN ANOTHER LOCATION.
Then click Install and agree to the license.
4) The installer will download the required files
DO NOT CLOSE WHILE THE DOWNLOAD IS IN PROGRESS! IT MAY NOT SHOW PROGRESS UNTIL IT HAS FULLY DOWNLOADED.
5) Once the install has finished startup BeamNG
6) Start BeamNG.drive
7) In Scenarios or Freeroam find The FairGrounds Mod
Known Issue- Multiseat Camera is not working. This is a game issue that BeamNG is working on. You can pause the game on scenario start and then press Shift and C to turn on the Free Camera.

The Direct Download Link needs to be installed in your BeamNG.drive mods folder. You will need to manually delete any "green_derby.zip" or "demo_green_derby.zip" files in the mods and repo folder
Troubleshooting
1) When starting the scenario you only get screen showing the black background with press esc to load the menu.
a) Check for old "green_derby.zip" or "demo_green_derby.zip" files in your mods folder and delete them. Also make sure you don't have "green_derby_1.zip" or other copies of the files in the mods or repo folder.
b) Clear cache
c) Deactivate all other mods in the menu.
2) AI is not moving
This can caused by a conflicting mod. Deactivate all mods and try again. Check the logs by press ~ or check the BeamNG.log files.
