I’m not militant about it but I prefer sub reactions for two reasons. Firstly because that’s how I watch most anime and secondly because I can read the subs whilst listening to the reactor instead of trying to listen to two things at once.

Also I think most people prefer dub, me included, but either way is ok

Love this show, its funny and wholesome. It is basically lots of "power of friendship" but it has fantastic character backstories and is a lot of fun. Please keep watching in sub too btw, the dub is fine, but doesn't hit the same imo.

Fairy Tail is a roller coaster of emotions if you stick with it both wholesome and lots of fan service. The first arc of this show is basically an introduction to the world and the main characters. This next part is copy paste. The writer of Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima, created the story primarily to explore the theme of strong friendship and camaraderie, drawing inspiration from his own experiences of feeling lonely and wanting a sense of belonging, which is reflected heavily in the close-knit community of the Fairy Tail guild and the characters' unwavering support for one another; essentially, he wanted to tell a story about the power of friendship overcoming adversity.

Oh damn fairy tail, really looking forward to it!
I think the first like... 10 ep's are more like "introduction" episodes, then you start to get actual story arcs afterwards. Deciding to drop/keep watching after the first story arc would be optimal, but that is already quite some investment i feel :)
But it's been a long time for me, i may misremember the number of episodes here. :3

If you want to react to deeper more stimulating anime a highly recommend "From the new world" ( Shinsekai Yori) I think it is a hidden gem. Is 25 episodes.

I would say give it about 8 to 10 episode. Half subs, half dubs.

Also I really like the Fairy Tail main theme as well as it’s variants. Probably more than You Say Run.

When the Fairy Tail anime first debuted around 2009 I heard some negative things so I didn’t bother checking it out.
A few years ago around 2018/2019 I was in a store and came across a heavily discounted Blu-Ray box set of the “complete” series. I bought it on a whim and after binging the entire series over a couple of weeks I don’t regret doing so.
Early on I struggled to get into it but I quickly grew attached to the characters and some of the later drama really tugged at the heartstrings.
My personal experience is once you get attached to characters in anything you’re happy just spending time with them even when individual episodes/stories aren’t that great.

My thoughts about this so far would be the 3rd option 😅
To me this feels like a show you need to be in a good mood to enjoy it or you'll just find it annoying or boring. I found myself wandering off not paying attention. I thought maybe Jojo would be more serious but going by what you said I guess not. I feel like all these shows are the same, way too much comedy. Maybe naruto is more serious? I just know too much comedy will eventually get old, similar thing happened with gintama.
