The sprinkling of details that will be delved into further down the line isn't always so relevant to the current episode. You're overthinking it. Some things are just the first bread crumb that won't be animated until season 4 probably. That secret daughter of the former emperor is someone else entirely. Maomaos origins are set in stone. The prostitute and Lakan. Tragic love gone awry. As for Jinshi's parents, that's also confirmed but you're not entirely accurate. Not many reactors were right by this point though so that's okay.

I think is very difficult to talk about it without leaving at least minor spoilers without even realizing it. In the past episode one comment has a small spoiler that probably was unintentional.

2025-03-09 04:54:11 +0000 UTCFor me this episode was excellent. Although I think the first season was better than this one, but I liked the mystery of this 2 episodes. About the weekly story that you talk about, the first season was more o less the same, there was a bigger storyline and there was a small mystery 1 to 3 weeks long. For me the big difference is that in the first season, they focused way more in the relationship between Maomao and Jinshi. We had way more romance. Probably that is why you didn't get bore with the small stories. Because the big background story was more prominent and there was more romance.
