They'll re-explain again how the Cycle of Souls and Quincies in the upcoming episodes so don't worry about it. This arc throws a lot of info at you compared to the OG Bleach, so be prepared. Also, you do know Nemu is Mayuri's daughter right? lol Her last name is "Kurotsuchi" like Mayuri?

And sometimes they have continuations of that episode. So I'd always at least check if there are stuff to see after the ending. Also I hope you can react to the special ending of episode 7!

2024-01-26 11:21:18 +0000 UTCTBF it's not only quincy who can exterminate hollows. Only hollows killed by zanpakuto get "purified" or sent to hell. So anyone besides shinigami can exterminate them, like Orihime or Chad for example. And I'm not sure, but I think hollows killed by kido are also just exterminated.

2024-01-26 08:37:22 +0000 UTCI dropped this in the discord but I'll throw it here too. You were spot on. The imbalance in souls is due to quincy extermination of hollows. You have to remember, quincy's are the only beings capable of completely erasing a hollows existence. When soul reapers "kill" hollows the hollow killed simply returns to weuco mundo and rebegins its life cycle, or the hollow is purified and is therefore sent to soul society. in either case, the overall "balance" is maintained. The same can not be said for hollows killed by quincy.
