The floating islands fell to the ravine below when they were asking the female sphinx about how to fight back. It's ruins are explorable in the official campaign setting. Dohla seems to be a different version of a character who was a former member of Vox Machina, Tiberius Stormwind (Her clothing even reflects him to an extent). He had an interest in Allura, rather than Kima. He and his player were increasingly problematic on and off the table. As a result, he and his player left the campaign just before the gang left for Whitestone to confront the Briarwoods.
