As I mentioned in my recent BTS video, these are not precisely what we had in mind when we planned this shoot. I’d been wanting to try something like this for ages, but whenever I searched for bodystockings online I only ever came up with the wearable items with two legs and either sleeves or arm holes. Recently, whilst searching for something else, I stumbled across the item I’d long been looking for and asked Sian if she’d be up for it. As ever her reply came back in very excited capital letters - I kind of knew she would! I am forever grateful for the excitement and enthusiasm Sian always shows for my ideas and especially for working with me.
We had planned for the set to be more “posed”, by which I mean using Sian’s skills as a dancer and gymnast (if you’ve ever watched her Instagram stories you’ll know what I mean). However, the stocking thing just wasn’t quite stretchy enough and offered far too much resistance for Sian to be able to get into the poses. As it was, she said the shoot felt like a gym workout!
And so we adapted, and in all honesty I think I love these images more than I would have if we had managed to achieve what we initially set out to do. These images are far more “me” if that makes sense?
These were lit with a single octabox, pointing straight down from above Sian. As most of you know, I do all of my shooting in a room in my home, which has the low ceiling heights typical of houses built in the 1970s. The light was as high as I could put it, which limited us to only shooting low level images.
There will be more from this set posted in the future... this is all the "shapes" images, but there are also the ones we did in a fashion style, with Sian wearing the stocking as if it were a dress.
