Over the last several months, I have been researching and writing about some of Disney's WWII films. Some of the films were RESTRICTED or CLASSIFIED when they were made at the studio during the war years. In fact there are a number of WWII films that are not in the Studios film library. These are films that were made under secrecy usually with several animation units working on different parts of the film and very few knowing what the entire was about.
Once completed, the military took everything--the film, negative, artwork, etc.--from the studio. There was little record of it being made other than a production number and a title, which was typically a cover that did not give away the contents. One such film was the Colonel Garland Project, which was actually a cover for HIGH LEVEL PRECISION BOMBING Part One and Part Two.
I recently uncovered a copy of this film and wrote an article about it for CARTOON RESEARCH. You can read the full article and watch both parts of the film here: HIGH LEVEL PRECISION BOMBING Part One and Part Two.
