Hi All,
I thought you would like to see this documentary I made in 2017. It's called Disney Cartoon Camera, and hosted by acclaimed historian Leonard Maltin. The film tracks the history of animation cinematography—from the origins of crude “down shooters” to the first multi-plane camera fashioned out of old car parts, to the latest digital camera capture systems—through the eyes of the camera operators and technicians. Hear first-hand how camera technology transformed the way audiences view animated films—creating the illusion of dimensionality in flat 2D art to the dramatic and natural handheld cameras being employed in today’s technically sophisticated CG films. Produced by Dave Bossert, Beth Martin, Brian Briskman, & Meghan Scott and directed by Dave Bossert, the film features interviews with Ub Iwerks' sons Dave and Don Iwerks, Ruthie Thompson, Tom Baker, Evan Goldberg, Rob Dressel, Joe Juliano, Bob Wilson, Becky Cline, David Coons, and many others.
Let me know what you think.
Enjoy,
-Dave
