May Update

Howdy. Just thought I'd drop by and chat a little bit about some recent developments and ideas I've got brewing. It's been hard to think of anything meaningful to post on Patreon since I transitioned it to a donation-only format, but that's something I'd like to change in the near future. I do miss writing those short stories that you voted on, but if and when I do get back to that I'd like to put a little twist on it.

But before I get into that, here's everything I wrote in the month of April!

Light Thrives Under Mechanical Might

- A League of Legends story, Lux/Urgot

Rebellious Affection

- A Star Wars story, Ahsoka/Reader

The Niijima Gambit

- A Persona 5 story, Sae/Ren

Not as many stories as I would have liked, but definitely some meaty portions. These were all commissions by the way. Which brings me to my next point.

My goal this year was to increase my productivity, and though it may not seem like much, three stories in a month is better than I've done in 2020 I think. Unfortunately, attempting to write more often has forced me to accept a few truths:

1. My health simply doesn't allow me to write all the time. I've been upfront recently about the wear and tear on my hands, and that certainly hasn't gotten any better. It hasn't gotten worse either, but it's a limiting factor nonetheless. I MUST pace myself, and that puts a cap on how much I can realistically get done in a time period.

2. I simply don't want to write all the time. I like to work, I like to game, I like to draw, I like to write. Four things that consume the 16 or so hours in a day I'm able to spend awake. It's a balancing act I have to maintain and, often times, writing just has to take a backseat.

3. Commissions stress me out. I like writing things for you all, I really do, but having timelines and expectations kind of kills the fun of it. As long as you don't mind waiting a really, really long time for your commission to be done, we're good. But when I'm always receiving e-mails about "is it done yet?" that really drops my motivation and makes me want to never open commissions again. There's a reason I don't ask people to pay upfront on commissions.

Hm, maybe I could get some speech-to-text software and dictate my stories to the computer. That might save some hand/wrist strain on me. But those usually suck. Oh well, life is what it is. I like the pace that I work at, and all I can say is "it'll be done when it's done." May has begun and I'm already knee-deep in some new stories that will be coming out shortly. Keep an eye out for those! And if you're interested in keeping up with ongoing developments, remember that my Discord server is always open (discord.gg/2ExC2s6).
