Hi patronites 💜 Remember my last life update post? Well… it's time for part 2!
So, good news first: it wasn’t an avulsion fracture 🙏😭 The MRI showed that it’s still “just” a severe muscle strain right at the tendon insertion. Super painful? Yes. Annoying? Absolutely 😵 BUT 🙏 at least no surgery 😭🙏 and no months stuck doing nothing! 😭 This week I saw a specialized orthopedist who finally diagnosed it correctly, I got medicated, and today I started physiotherapy. The treatments are working 💪 Today I'm feeling about 55–60% less pain, which honestly feels like a miracle 🥹 And the expectation is to keep improving progressively 🙌
Now for the not-so-good news 🫠 my immune system decided to throw a full-on party without inviting me 😅 After coming back from the US, I ended up with more fever, infections, antibiotics, corticosteroids, mouth sores, swollen gums, skin allergies around my eyes, joint pain… basically a whole collection of random symptoms. I haven’t been sick for this long in years, and it completely drained me 😥 Here’s what September has looked like so far, in a little “real time” timeline 🗓️
(Aug 29: Back from the US → completely exhausted)
Sep 1: ER visit for fever + urinary & respiratory infection → was recommended 10 days of antibiotics + 5 days of corticosteroids
Sep 10: Physiotherapy evaluation → pain still strong → recommended to check an orthopedist
Sep 12: First orthopedist visit → muscle relaxant for 7 more days + painkillers for 5 days (and crazy assumptions)
Sep 19: Several blood tests + 2x MRI → to check health + leg injury
Sep 20–23: Mouth sores, gingivitis, allergies → my immune system was going crazy after so many meds
Sep 24: Orthopedist (hip specialist) → corticoid injection + stronger, more targeted anti–inflammatory, for 10 days more 😅
Sep 26: Skin & gums still flaring → felt like a zombie 🧟♀️
Sep 27: Finally some relief → skin and gums started to heal, and pain reduced a lot after meds and physiotherapy 🙌
ps: All accompanied by a lot of fatigue 🫠
The funny part? (well, not that funny 😅) I kept saying “ok, lesson learned” every time I got sick before, but I don’t think I ever really learned. This time, though… I think I did. I don’t want to run myself into the ground anymore just to feel like I’m “doing enough.” It’s pointless to chase results if it means destroying my body and peace of mind...
...I think I’ll need to reformulate my routine and decisions in life, because the way I was doing things wasn’t sustainable or healthy 😅 (And I know I already said that before)
Btw, I haven’t been to the gym since I came back from the US!!!!!!! which means almost a MONTH without lifting weights 😱 I’ve literally never been away for so long since I first got serious about fitness. The good news is that now I don’t need complete rest anymore 🙏 I just can’t train glutes or hamstrings yet, my cardio is limited to treadmill and bike, and skating has to be only three times a week. And yes, it feels like “nothing” for me 😭😅 but I promised myself that if I feel any pain or twinge, I’ll stop immediately and won’t push through it 🥺
Right now I’m finally feeling a bit better 🥺 My skin and mouth are starting to heal, my gums are less inflamed, and I’m slowly regaining energy. It’s still a process, but I’m hopeful. That’s also why I’ve been a little quieter than usual here: I needed to let my body recover for once 😅
Thank you so much for your patience and love through all this 💜 I promise things will pick up again soon, but at a healthier pace this time 🙏
How are you guys doing, btw? 🥺 Hopefully better than me 😅
