Finished piece started in last month's tutorial video! It was quite challenging to compose a more complete scene set in a nature theme, but it did help me reorganize my own workflow and learn a couple of new things as well.

Part 2 of the video on the topic of environment design will be up later this month - thank you very much as always f...

This month's tutorial is up! I share my process when it comes to planning and designing environments, as well as answering some questions from you guys yesterday. Cleaning (2022//2020)

I was scrolling through some old work when I saw this piece - and had a feeling that it was really unfinished! It's been a while since one of these, so here is the "remaster", it still feels slightly not complete, but I think I brought out the pose and atmosphere a lot more after the remaster.

As always, we will go through the walkthrough...

GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP12 Portrait Quick Guide

The tutorial for this month is up! I tried hard to keep it concise and to 30 minutes, mainly touching on some basic considerations and a few core things to take note when approaching portraits that everyone can try.

As always, thank you so much for your support and feedback is always welcome! See you next month :)

GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP12 (Process Steps)

This month's process walkthrough is up! I tried my best to keep it a little bit shorter this time so it's easier to watch to completion. I also talk a bit more on the artist's intent and how I plan out a set - and slightly less on the usual technical stuff - I hope this slight change of pace is helpful!

The tutorial video will a...

GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP11 - Composition

The tutorial video for this month is now up!

Composition is quite a hard topic to tackle compared to the others because of how subjective it can get when we get into the details. In the video I focused on making a simple breakdown and providing some examples on how to approach the subject - as well as couple of things we can try to pay a...

Q&A Post!

I'm working on a new set continuing from the latest one in terms of narrative (should be fun!) It's quite tough one though and will probably take a bit longer before it's out, so I thought in the meantime I'll do one of these.

Feel free to ask your question below and I'll try my best to give a detailed reply!

This was a fun set to paint, especially recreating the wake of the boat on the floating petals!
It can be a bit tough thinking of interesting visual elements for quieter settings like these, so I find capturing a couple of angles to form a set tends to help with that.

Of course, drawing several angles for the scene is challenging but a...

Mirror

An interesting and pretty fun piece to create! The materials and mirror was a challenge to properly depict in an illustration context - there were plenty of references available to help with the angles and perspective, but it was tough getting the "mirror" feel in, especially with a "different" reflection.

As it turns out, adding a couple...
