Mr. White Kimono is definitely on the suave side, and sounds a bit more educated than I personally think MC would be, but it works surprisingly well + it helps differentiate him from the other 4 ronin.

While this excerpt covers the same ground that Kenji's did, you'll notice differences right away (thanks to their different stats and the choices they make). Not to mention, it's amazing just how much a change in the narrator's voice impacts the feel of any given scene.
"Bad endings" are a classic staple of interactive fiction. There are many pros and cons to having them, but more of the latter in regards to choicegames due to their lack of checkpoints and saving. It was something I learned very quickly after Book 1: nobody wants to redo dozens and dozens of choices.
