Comic for Friday 10/16 (Early High Res)
To be clear, this did not actually happen. I don't let my kids watch me play games with graphic violence yet.
My four-year-old did wander in and witness an assassination... but he's still gullible enough that I was able to convince him Dad was playing a game where the goal was to tag people with red paint and they're "out". Asleep. In the...
Comic for Wednesday 10/14 (Early High Res)
Sorry, this is going to be one of my "here's how I wish the world worked" posts.
I was originally spurred to touch on the subject (and importance) of developer communication by the latest game-as-service, The Avengers, but it's a topic that becomes more and more important as any game shifts from "we shipped it, that's it, it's done" to an...
Comic for Monday 10/12 (Early High Res)
I have never played a Crusader Kings game before, but I heard some intriguing things about the series, and saw the latest installment was on GamePass and... wow. It is a lot.
There is an overwhelming amount of information to digest, but once you start digging through it, also a thoroughly interesting and unique strategy ga...

I always pick random matchmaking over playing with bots, but if someone comes in with their mic on, I find I immediately "nope" right to the mute button. I want all of the benefits of playing with actual human beings, just without all of the tiring social elements. I have enough friends. I'm at my quota, and it's exhausting enough just maintaini...

A future with a true game-streaming service sounds fantastic. I love the idea of leaving the hardware to a supercomputer somewhere, and beaming games directly to people's TV with little additional hardware to upgrade/maintain. It's a fantastic concept.
But it has, thus far, not worked on a mass scale. There are still bottlenecks in places...
Comic for Wednesday 9/23 (Early High Res)
Well this one kind of fell in my lap yesterday. Didn't feel like I could NOT make a comic about it.

Man, the Avengers game is like being transported right into one of the amazing comic books I grew up reading!
(Disclaimer: I love this game, I'm just poking fun.)
Comic for Monday 9/14 (Early High Res)
I'm glad that this game of chicken that Sony and Microsoft seem to have been playing with eachother over the price and preorder dates for these next gen consoles may finally be over now that Microsoft blinked.
There are some neat looking games coming to next-gen, but despite feeling like it's part of my job to experience and potentially c...

Maybe this is just a "me" thing, but the Dual Shock's vibration combined with my wedding ring turns an otherwise benign "buzz" into cacophany of obnoxiousness. It's normally an intermittent annoyance, but Avengers appears to feature COPIOUS amounts of rumble.

I was genuinely surprised at how good, cohesive and complete the Avengers campaign was, and from a lot of comments I've read, I'm not the only one.
It feels like, at least partially due to the way they doled out reveal information, not enough emphasis was put on the fact that this was, in fact, a game with a good-...

I still maintain that the path of a loot-based game for the Avengers is a puzzling and bizzarre choice that defies reason. It works fine for Iron Man, and maybe Black Widow, but it is utter nonsense for a character like the Hulk.
Despite that, though, I am happy to report that Avengers is... pretty damned amazing. The beta for this game d...
