This week, or now I guess rather last week we have the Blood Rose, a plant monster that, like the driffit, appears on level 2A.
We're trying to get a post for Christmas week ready for y'all.

Been a while since we did a monster preview, so here's one! It's everyone's favorite improbably deadly plant monster here to make your catastrophe not so cozy! They are, of course, found on level 2A of Nightwick Abbey.

For our first post in December, we unveil some information about the treasures in level 2A of Nightwick. Since much of that level is made up of gardens, it made sense to me that some of the treasures should be rare herbs. When I first wrote it up I intended these to just be a gloss on treasure values, but after some thinking I have decided they ...

This week we present a monster that is quite common on level 2A: the fungal zombies. They pose a long term problem for any party, and I have included a faction writeup (though the leader of the faction will appear later).

At long last, the first legitimate post of November! We're still dealing with stuff over here, so we decided to start with a simple one: a one room geomorph! It maybe just be one room, but I think you'll find it has some serious impact on how characters enter the dungeon.

Huth and I have both been dealing with (separate) issues this month, and so our more traditional posts have been delayed. I know we already missed a week, but I hope our double-stuffed October content helped ease that somewhat.
We are still dealing with those issues, but I didn't want to leave you without your Nightwick Fix, so these are ...

I promised you a treat yesterday for Hallowe'en, and here it is! These are the maps I made for my games (the in person one I had has moved online as well due to covid) using Dungeondraft. They are rough in some places, with certain effects poking out of the wall and such, but they should function well for anyone using Roll20 or another VTT.

In honor of Hallowe'en, Huth and I decided to do one of the more holiday appropriate monsters from the Dark Country: the Rawhead. They are based on a spooky folklore book I read as a kid, and thus they are suitable boogeymen.
Tomorrow I hope to have a treat for you all.

This week (or rather last week, again) we have a commission from the Great Duke of Hell Warren Denning. This was not originally intended to be one of the perks of that level, but since an online game has not yet been able to manifest I thought he should get something for his money.
His request was for a table of party backgrounds to add t...

As promised, a bonus post for this liturgical month of Shocktober! Chris Huth has combined the players' material and the level one dungeon material published so far into two docs to make it easier for patrons to get started running in this spooky season.

This week... or I guess actually last week... we present some of the possible hooks for Nightwick Abbey as well as a system for learning the Abbey's history (false and otherwise).
Our plans for the rest of October are some seasonal appropriate monster writeups and the collected Level 1. In November we'll begin exploring Level 2A: the Sunl...

This week's entry is the missing monster from level 1 - the Children of Stone. They are a mournful reminder of the psychic shock of the siege of Nightwick Abbey (and places similarly destroyed with fire and murder). My players have always referred to them as "lava babies" for some reason.
We hope to have a bonus post of the collected leve...

At last, and just in time for the spooky season: the last geomorph on level 1! The two encounters in this one are real doozies.
Early in October we hope to have a collected version (including the monster we forgot) ready on an off day (so you're not paying for something you already got).

The last "boss" of level 1! This monster was the first I custom designed for the Dark Country - having been in a proto-Nightwick dungeon I ran sometime in 2009.
Huth's art this week is a prime example of why I wanted him for Nightwick in the first place.
Next week we'll have the last geomorph of level 1, meaning the dungeon should ...

This geomorph presented a bit of a problem for Huth and myself, as we realized we had neglected to provide stats for two of the monsters! For the "wharwilf," simply use the stats for werewolf you prefer. For the children of stone I recommend checking my blog for OSE compatible stats. Versions for OSE will be forthcoming once the geomorphs for le...

This month we're announcing a new pledge level that allows patrons to play in the World of Nightwick! The game will be using OSE along with house rules and at least one third party book. The platform will be discord for voice and Roll20 for maps and things.
The easiest thing for me would be to run it in Nightwick Abbey, and based on the r...

This week we offer up a description of the history and doctrines of the Church of Law, the dominant religious organization in the Dark Country. Nightwick Abbey acts as a diabolical perversion of the Church and thus it is necessary to understand what it is like when not-perverted.

This month we're starting with a geomorph! The painting chambers are in some ways the home geomorph of the Cadaverites, though unlike other monsters/factions in my own game I didn't take them off the wandering monster table when it was cleared.

This week we have a common monster that appears throughout level 1 and prominently features in the next geomorph. Cadaverites are pitiable demoniacs who have acted as both a terror and a nuisance to many groups in the dungeons of Nightwick.
