Demian feels a mixture of guilt for knowing how badly he hurt Eiji in the past and the impact he made on his life, but also hatred because of what he just did to Izumi (even though he's not sure yet what happened, he's now certain it was Eiji's fault). It's a very complicate feeling to deal with.

As a reader you can avoid putting yourself in Eiji's shoes, but as a writer I have to and it's really... painful... ( . - . ) What he did wasn't right, but he's so full of sorrow and regret for the story he wanted which could not and will never happen. I can't help but suffer for him (but I'm the author, I'm meant to suffer for all my characters...
