I wonder who that cloaked and hooded figure is in the scene change? Looks like the outfit that General Bell's mooks wear. Hmm. Lotta dead fish, that's probably not good. And where is Darkest going? Hmm! Everyone's so busy!

Oof, that fourth panel took a long time.

Looks like Patreon is feeling better. Last update for whatever reason it wasn't displaying the full sized page properly when you click the image. Seems all right now.

Darkest Paul! On the whole he won't get more screentime for a while but it was nice to give him a few brief scenes this chapter. He and Bastion have some interesting history together.

So man, did you hear about Patreon's cock-up? I guess they moved their office to the UK and the fact they're now an international charge caused a lot of peoples' cr...

Very hard to find worksafe crops from this page to use for social media. You might think I'm a dirty liar but I swear I often wish I could draw this jerk with his clothes on when he teleports. But *teardrop* I must remain true to the world's mechanics.

The next page has me nervous, I suspect no one will be able to tell what's going on. Fingers cr...

This poor woman has no name. Someone name her!

They are in Fachlyne, in the heart of the Weeping Plague quarantine zone. The plague doesn't enter into the story yet so I didn't really want to distract from the current goings-on with an establishing shot of a place that has no bearing on the story right now, but they are definitely in Alderode, in...

You got a little red on you, Bastion.

This upcoming scene is actually pretty fun. Bastion is one of those characters who can quip and have a good time even when Everything Is Terrible and several people are trying to kill him. Never take anything too seriously - inflexible minds snap.

I'll throw up a post tomorrow when I'm on Discord. Come ...

I was looking at the Venus of Willendorf one day and thought it really kind of looked like a face. I imagined Bell finding an old Yerta idol kept in some forgotten palace side chapel, and seeing in it a symbol of what Cresce had become - headless, feckless, cr...

Ooh, where ya going, General.

I was going to have a few panels of him telling his buddy in the hood there to take his construct and go meet Captain Hetr at Litriya Shrine, but enh, it'll be apparent enough that happened when next you see him at the Shrine.

Though the High-Priestess cites this new Black Tongue development as a mark against her Majesty, their rejection of her choice of successor was already a foregone conclusion before this meeting started. Bell's been working on this a while, and you just didn't do much to change their minds, Queen Sonorie~

The next two pages are favourites of mine~...

Ahh, lots of dialogue on this page. Queen Sonorie gets to say "testicle" though, and that's always a good day.

Queen Sonorie's court really are not huge players in the overall scheme of Unsounded, but it's a lot of fun trying to get them to stand out for their few brief appearances. Chancellor Ufal especially has a great rubber face and Karl is so oily you could wring him out onto your salad. Look at his little butt ruffle.

Queen Sonorie's dress is both a private tribute to poor dying Roger, and an expression of guilt at her complicity. Everything's on fire and her heart is bleeding. Of course no one in the Council chamber knows about any of that.

Bell continues to be creepy.

A grisly survivor of the battle we saw back in the opening pages of Chapter 12, a few miles from the shrine. Probably not a great thing to make the General aware of the place our heroes are hunkering down, but one does wonder what in the heck the Queen is doing assigning a special guard there behind the back of her own military leader. Perhaps Quee...

Audio Q&A

Hello, my darlings. I haven't recorded an audio Q&A in a while. If you have any questions you'd like me to answer or anything you'd like me to talk about it, please let me know in a comment! If you're shy, you can also send it to me anonymously on Tumblr, I don't mind.

Audio is particularly good for anything you'd like to hear pronounced and ...

The lizards speak their own language, naturally, and it's full of sounds that we as humans can't reproduce. I've never therefore felt it would be proper to attempt to romanize it outside of a few proper nouns, like Prakhuta, and the lizards' name for themselves, the inak.

But yeah, fear makes people into monsters. At least you can see there are p...

Some fun details on this page. I really liked drawing the kiddie Two-toes clinging to mom. I also liked drawing the little Crescian brats throwing eggs. Smashing eggs in the path of egg-laying Two-toes clinging to their own unborn - even if they're chicken eggs - is a particularly dickish thing to do.

Cutter getting all Aldish with his five dollar words. Knock's Sharteshanian dialect - I even let her use "bene," a nice bit of thieves' cant - makes him feel more superior than he normally does.

Back in my RP days I was nigh fluent in thieves' cant and Sette employed it frequently. I decided early on to give it a pass in Unsounded - the dialogue ...

Jivi, you may have a technically valid amount of justification for not wanting to be Sette's friend, but there's a thin line between technically right and shut the hell up, man.

Next scene we'll join with Cutter, Knock-Me-Down, and Ana from the Nevergreen as they make their way towards the coast inside the First Silver horror monster. Remember th...

Indefensible bullying, but have you ever felt what started out as a justified grievance snowball into pure, unjustified, verbal battery? It's ugly, but anger's addictive. Even in good people, that moment of putting your foot on a momentarily weaker opponent's throat is a cathartic rush. If you could step outside yourself you'd probably hate what yo...

I just got to side with Jivi here. Matty and Sette are ready to write all that off as Duane's nightly lunacy but maybe it's because they aren't Crescian and haven't really felt Duane's hateful diatribe against the country these past weeks. If that was a portrait of their Queen that just got torched, or a Plat or Sharteshanian girl...

Just for Patreon, the Queen's portrait at full scale. It's rather rare that a shrine would have an updated one, suggesting Litriya is important to Her Majesty. Most of the country has much older paintings done in celebration of her coronation. Timofey popped out of one once!

Two pages today!

One of my favourite things to think about with Duane is where the monster ends, where the man begins, and which is worse. 'Cause I don't think Duane is in Hell at all. I think he's being given the chance to learn things he never would have learned in life, and to become a better person from all these experiences. Not that it'll b...
